Pre-Marriage Education CatholicCare Tasmania runs a series of Pre-Marriage and Relationship programs every year. They are designed to help you spend time as a couple to build upon your relationship and have a richer, happier and more fulfilling life together.

Depending on your needs and goals, you can choose either a group program or the more private process called FOCCUS©, or you can choose to do both programs.

FOCCUS© Pre-Marriage Inventory FOCCUS © is a questionnaire based program for couples who would like to reflect on their relationship in a more private setting. The couple will meet with a facilitator (or a married couple who are trained as facilitators) and the facilitator will guide a discussion about the questionnaire. FOCCUS© is a questionnaire which can give couples a clearer picture of their relationship. It helps identify couple strengths and may also identify any areas that could potentially cause stress. FOCCUS© is not a test, nor does it predict the success of a relationship. It does enable a couple to easily identify topics that may need further discussion.

For information on the availability of FOCCUS© in your area contact us

Marriage Education Group Program This is a 2 day course held over weekends. The program is conducted in a group setting with between 4-10 couples. Sessions are designed to provide couples with skills and strategies to handle challenges that inevitably arise for two people who are sharing their lives together. The course provides a great opportunity to talk to other couples who are at the same stage in their life journey, and share some thought about what it means to be “committed”.

Some topics covered include:

  • Communication
  • Conflict Management
  • Family of Origin
  • Love and Intimacy
  • Money and Marriage

For any queries about these programs call 6278 1660, and ask to speak to someone about the pre-marriage programs.
